Chyasilin Mandap information
The octagonal pavilion known as Chyasilin Mandap was in fact created in 1990 using components from a temple that was destroyed in the 1934 earthquake and reassembled around a metal frame. The original was used for poetry competitions and to receive royal guests, while the upper floor was used as a viewing platform during festivals. Chyasilin means 'Eight Corners'.
