Lonely Planet review
This is Windhoek’s most royal B&B option – quite literally, as it’s located inside Heinitzburg Castle, which was commissioned in 1914 by Count von Schwerin for his fiancée, Margarethe von Heinitz. A member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux hotel group, the Heinitzburg is far and beyond the most personable upmarket accommodation in Windhoek. Rooms have been updated for the 21st century with satellite TV and air-con, though the highlight of the hotel is the palatial dining room, which offers excellent gourmet cuisine and an extensive wine dungeon.
Our independent authors have visited Hotel Heinitzburg and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Windhoek.
