I'm looking for a bus from Bagan to Kalaw on October 16 or 17th, but so far I have not found anything. Are the VIP buses completely booked or not running those days? Are these popular travel days where I should book ahead?

I have about 3 weeks in Myanmar starting mid-December. I'm an experienced, older traveler but first time in Myanmar. I'd welcome any comments on my proposed itinerary. I'm very interested in both culture and nature and not inclined to hurry from place to place. Enjoy moderate hikes. Mid-range options.

Yangon: 3 nights, then probably fly to Bagan
Bagan area: 4 nights
Kalaw: 2 nights (best way to get to Kalaw?)
Possibly hike (2-day) to Inle Lake area
Inle Lake area: 4 nights
Mandalay: 3 nights
To…

Hello, I plan on riding a motorbike between Yangon and Pyay and im looking for somewhere to sleep along the way. Closer to Yangon than Pyay would be prefferable. Does anyone know if any town along the way have foreigner approved hotels/guesthouses? Family run/cheap is prefferable! Perhaps the towns of Hmawbi, Taik Kyi or Tharrawady have something? thanks for the advice

I have no idea how I did this, but I think I messed up my myanmar e visa name order. The visa form asked for my name as it EXACTLY appears on my passport I put down my first name, middle name, last, but I think my passport (USA) reads last, first, middle.

Do you know if this is a problem? On the information page of my passport the first line is last name, second line is first name, initial.

Spelling is correct.

Should I re-apply? Was accepted within 2 hours

Hi, I'm trying to plan a short trip (14-16 days) covering southern Myanmar. I'd like to visit at least Bago (1 day), Kyaiktiyo (1 day), Moulmein (2-3 days), Hpa An (2-3 days), Ye (1 day), Dawei (2-3 days), but as I would like to include at least 2 or 3 days of good snorkeling, I'm wondering if it worths to go further south (Mergui?) or if there is any good spot near Dawei. I understand that in Mergui Islands there is no accommodation and often permits are required, but maybe is possibile to rent…

Hi again,

I was wondering how easy it is to book a one day trek around Kalaw for the next day when you arrive in Kalaw (in February)? We'll be taking the train from Thazi early in the morning and arrive in Kalaw around midday, I think. And we would like to take a day hike around the Kalaw area the next day. We might have time for a 2d/1n trek as well, if we leave for Inle Lake later the next day. But we'd rather not arrive too late in Nyaungshwe, so that we have more time there. We're not…
