Hi,

We are planning our Myanmar trip but are running into problems because of vastly conflicting information being given to us concerning driving times. We will be using a private car and driver for the following. What are realistic driving times (not just Google times)given usual road conditions and traffic during November. In all cases we plan on an early morning start and no night driving.

  1. Loikaw to Yangon.

  2. Loikaw to Taungoo

  3. Taungoo to Yangon

Thanks for your…

Hi,
Im planning a trip to myanmar and am curious: Is it best to book the flights ahead of time or do it when you land in Yangon? I know in america that would mean super high airfares and sold out flights but for a trip in August would that be the best bet? Also it sounds like doing it through a travel agent is best?

And in August does anyone have an idea if planes and trains/buses are delayed due to rain or pretty much on time?

Thanks!

Hello, I am planning to overstay my visa by a few days and will need to pay the penalty in Yangon International Airport before I leave - does anyone know the hours for visa overstay processing? Is it open 24 hours? My flight is at 1am and I am hoping I can get it processed at that time.

Thanks!

How accessible is Mayu peninsular from Sittwe?

In WW2 my grandad was killed at Indin on Mayu and my family would like to visit where he was killed.

In 2003, my Dad and I did a pilgrimage trip from Sittwe, up Mayu river and across to Maungdaw. Only locals, Burmese military and UNHCR were in the area. The road was too poor to get to Indin.

This time we want to hire a boat in Sittwe to make landfall from Bay of Bengal on Mayu at Indin. Less desirable alternatives are either boat to Fouls Point…

Hi all, I searched around on the forum here but wasn't able to find an answer to my question.
I will be traveling around Myanmar in early June. I'd like to trek in Hsipaw or Kyaukme (ideally from one town to the next) and I'm wondering if I will have any problems with the following:

trekking during the rainy season
finding a trek that isn't pricey since I'm going alone and not with a group (will it be easy to join one?)

Thanks for the help!

Hello,

I am planning 2 weeks in Myanmar in the beginning of November.

Due to flight safety records I don't want to fly in between places- I have been advised overnight buses are better than the train , is this true?

I will fly in and out of Yangon - want to travel around and would also like to get in some relaxation time at a beach maybe ?

I have been to every other country in SE Asia - I want to see what separates Myanmar from other places - not interested in tourist traps - any…

Currency

Hi. Just wondering if anyone can clarify currency. Have read only local currency & USD accepted which is fine, but can we fly into Mandalay & change aussie dollars into local currency at the airport?
