Have booked to fly into Yangon on March 1 and out on March 17. Have the following itinerary:
Fly to Inle lake 3D/2N
Trek to Kalaw 2N
Fly to Mandalay 3N
Fly Bagan to Yangon for flight out
Several questions which I'd like advice on
1. Is the Trek inle-Kalaw ok done that way? Is it just that it's uphill that makes it less popular than Kalaw-Inle? How steep? Am experienced hiker so not worried about hills but like to know what to expect!
2. Is there another option than flying…
I know it is not possible to enter Phunaron/Htee Kee at this border crossing with an e-visa into Myanmar but is it possible to exit from Myanmar with an e-visa at this border crossing?
First, thanks for being a help with my trip planning. It might sound strange, but planning for a trip is almost as fun as the trip itself :)
I got a few follow up questions for my previous questions. Please bare with me....
From things I have read, it seems like the general consensus is that Bagan is still worth a visit, although climbing up temples for sunset/sunrise views are limited. If I am primarily interested in going inside temples to take photographs interplaying light and…
My husband and I are going to go on a two week trip without our kids in April and want to do a lot as who knows if we will ever get back to Myanmar. We are active people and found a 14 day trip on Myanmartours.com called, "Off the Beaten Track"I know it is a lot but I really do want to do all or most of this:
we plan to do the following:
Day 1: arrive at 10:50pm into Yangon, go to the hotel to sleep
Day 2: Yangon, Shwedagon Pagoda, city tour etc.
Day 3: Flight from Yangon to Lashio then drive to…
We have just booked our flights to Yangon arriving 20 November. Exciting! Not so perfect is that we will have only 8 days on the ground, so plan is Yangon (2 nights), flight to Nyauk U (2 nights), bus to Kalaw (1 night), train to Shwenyaung (3 nights), flight back to Yangon and on home. Looks tough but feasible to me after what I've read here, no?
Now I thought we could find some nice place at the lake with a pool and a view for some relaxing time making up for missing out on Ngapali. But…
My family (wife, 3 year old boy, one soon on the way) are thinking of moving to Yangon for a few years.
Our budget is approx 3.5/4k USD month.
i) if you think it's better to get a house or apartment? ii) What are some key attributes to look for and make sure they have? iii) Do any places offer guaranteed electricity... how do we ensure? iv) is 4k a good budget for a place with a pool or some little play area?
Thanks a mil,
My wife and I work with the UN and NGO and are planning to move to Myanmar. It is is not a done deal yet as we are not sure if it's good for a young family with a boy and another (hopefully soon) on the way.
We used to live in Myanmar from 2010-2013 before traffic and before he was born. So, we had different lenses.
Now we're wondering how the lifestyle is with a boy, in particular: good outdoor areas? good apartments/ houses (our budget is about 4k/month)? good schools for kids? What…

Is there really two Soe Brother GH in Hpa An? The Paper guides refers to the one on Thitsa Street while Agoda offers room at GH number 2 on Ingyin Steet. Number 2 seems a bit more expensive. What is the difference?
