Walking by the the Cinema Boujloud in Fez is a sad experience for anyone who loves old movie houses. This once bustling cinema is closed and used for storage of market goods. The seating was still in place in the auditorium when seen in 2006. Cinema Boujaloud is symptomatic of the Moroccan cinema market which has been suffering a severe decline during the past years.

A recent article on the USA Morocco Board highlights the impact of tourism on water resources in Morocco. As Rebecca Timson points out, water is a scarce resource in Morocco, and tourists use a lot of it when they stay in hotels and swim in pools and especially when they go golfing. A single 18-hole golf course requires 3500 m/day of water, which is 3.5 times as much as the average Moroccan consumes in a whole year.

American killed, Brit injured in Morocco Rally

According to the MAP news agency, an American taking part in an auto rally has been killed after his car plunged into a ravine in Morocco's Atlas mountains.Frank Warren, 63, was killed and his British companion was badly injured and taken to hospital.The accident happened between the towns of Midelt and Khenifra in the Atlas mountains as the pair were taking part in the Casablanca Challenge rally. The car came off the road near the village of Ait Oumina, MAP said.The British woman was taken to hospital in Meknes.
