Fès has long been notorious for its faux guides (false guides). The situation has improved with the introduction of a brigade touristique; still, high unemployment forces many to persist. A few hustlers hang about Fès train station and hotels, but the worst place is around Bab Bou Jeloud, the main western entrance to the medina.

Night Pharmacy (055 623493; Blvd Moulay Youssef; 9pm-6am) Located in the north of the Ville Nouvelle; staffed by a doctor and pharmacist.
