Lonely Planet review for Hotel Parador

While it’s easy to find kif in Chefchaouen, it’s hard to find a beer. The small bar at the Hotel Parador, is fine.

Bar expensive and too many hustlers.

    miguelreposo does not recommend this,

I tried to write an in-depth report, but this webpage is not "user-friendly", so I gave up.................. bad scene, forum Gauleiters!

    Miguel.

I'll try again, this webpage's efficacy is suspect..............

The Parador bar is ideally situated, with a superb view from the terrace of the surrounding mountains and valley, the recently-restored Spanish mosque is clearly visible, but the euphoria ends here................
The bar is a focal point for all Chaouni beer hustlers, the staff also enthusiastically pursue tips from customers, Omar, the lazy waiter, blatantly asks for tips for doing virtually nothing (if you can find him, he will be either watching TV, blethering, or running errands for cigarettes to the shop across the street). Abdul Wahid, the barman, is semi-deaf and you have to shout at him to order a beer, the only non-hustler is young hard-working barman Fued, who always provides good service. No tapas are served, except boring Zytoon (olives) approaching their sell-by date ( I have my reliable informants). Flag beer is Dh23, spirits from a limited gantry selection start at Dh50, wine is only served in the restaurant, with dinner. The swimming pool on the terrace can be used by non-residents for a price which it's advisable to establish first to avoid rip-offs !

In conclusion, not my favourite 'oasis', Bar Uomou Rabia is much better.

    Miguel.
