Lonely Planet review for Bar Oum-Rabiá

While it’s easy to find kif in Chefchaouen, it’s hard to find a beer. One freestanding, and very masculine, option is Bar Oum-Rabiá.

    A good watering hole !

    miguelreposo recommends this,

Previously the bar closed early at around 6pm, much to the consternation of regular patrons, but this year the hours have been extended from 10am to 11pm, and slightly later if busy, which was the case over the Easter weekend. Flag beer is Dh20, but I prefer San Miguel at Dh25, the restaurant upstairs is very good, and the waiters, Youssef and Jamal provide good service, between the bar, kitchen and upstairs drinking and dining salon.
The 'additions' are supervised by Abdul ('baleine') Latif, who keeps a surprisingly accurate count in between surreptitious puffs at his Kif pipe, below the high bar counter !
There was only one 'incident' in the ten days I frequented the bar, last month....two 'mosquito' hustler guides had been in the bar all day drinking their commissions, extracted from tourists, and were very drunk and noisy, culminating in a fight which Youssef broke up by ejecting them both from the bar and standing against the door to physically prevent them re-entering !
However, I always enjoy the 'floor show' entertainment, it's just part of the scenery.
