  1. A

    La Maison Bleue

Reservations are necessary at this elegant riad restaurant. The setting is intimate and romantic, with diners serenaded by an oud player (replaced by livelier Gnawa song and dance at the end of the evening). You’ll be treated to an array of cooked salads, tajines, couscous and bastilla (savoury pastries), plus filo pastry desserts. Top marks for presentation and atmosphere.

  2. B

    Pizzeria Roma

This pizzeria has a bright fast-food style interior, with the scooter outside services the home-delivery business. The food is good with several vegetarian options to satisfy the stomach, while the wood oven gives the place a pleasing aroma (the false fireplace is fooling no one!).

  3. Thai Gardens

Slightly out of the centre in the affluent suburb of Anfa, but worth seeking out for its excellent Thai cuisine, this place is another top-notch option. The vast menu of Thai classics is refreshingly inventive and makes a good choice for vegetarians.

    Golden China

Casa's top Chinese restaurant is a welcome break from tajine if you've been in Morocco for some time. It's an excellent choice for vegetarians with plenty of meat-free options on offer.
