    Forty new A/H1N1 cases confirmed in MoroccoForty new cases of the A/H1N1 flu virus were confirmed in the cities of Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakech, Rabat, Temara, Meknes and Ifrane, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday. All cases are under medical treatment in their homes, with regular medical check-ups, said the ministry.

  18. Road accidents kill 14 in Morocco in 24 hours

    Fourteen people have been killed and 38 others injured, seven seriously, in three traffic accidents that occurred in Morocco in the last twenty four hours. In Salé (Rabat twin-city), five people died and four injured, two seriously, on Tuesday afternoon when a small car collided with two other cars coming from the opposite direction, police sources said. On the same day, four people were killed and four others wounded, two seriously, in the province of Kenitra (40 km north of Rabat).

  21. Eight percent increase in tourists visiting Morocco

    Some 5 million tourists visited Morocco in Jan-Jul 2009According to the Moroccan tourism authorities, around 5 million tourists visited Morocco over January-July 2009, an increase of 8% compared with the same period of last year. French tourists topped the list with 1.94 million (+8%), followed by the Spaniards (1.11 million, + 14 %), the Belgians (291,000, +16 %), the Dutch (273,000, +14 %), the Germans (259,000, +4 %), the Britons (209,000, -10 %) and the Italians (186,000, +10 %). The arrivals of Scandinavian tourists showed a stagnation.

  23. Moroccan market fire injures 31

    According to reports coming in from Taourirt (450 kilometres east of Rabat), a massive fire has swept through a local souk (bazaar).The fire happened on Tuesday, but reports are only just beginning to make the amount of damage clear.Local police say the fire broke out in the Al-Qods souk in the early afternoon and although fire-fighters were quick to respond it took four hours to bring the blaze under control.
