Lonely Planet review for Le Grand Café de la Poste
Once a French colonial hotel and favourite café of the dread Pasha Glaoui, this place has recently been restored to its flapper-era, potted-palm glory. Mediterranean chef Cyril Lignac and Moroccan Sana Gamas create a seamless blend of cuisines in signature dishes: roast chicken with wild Berber thyme and olives, and a stellar salad with local goat cheese and citrus-herb vinaigrette that will have you smacking your lips for days after.

Me and my Partner decided on our last night in Marrakech to experience some fine dining .We had passed by Le Grand Cafe de la Poste a few times during our stay seen the menu and had a look around inside .The restaurant aesthetically looks wonderful inside and out ,the menu although pricey looked great and we both wanted to finish our holiday on a high regardless of price .We thought we would get the finest service ,finest food at these prices ,how wrong we were .The service was frosty almost to the point of rudeness , for starter we had a mixed selection to share which was clearly pre-prepared (not fresh) some time previously either the same day or week we weren't sure but it tasted odd and neither of cared for it . I had the calamari and my partner had monk fish for main course which was only slightly better ,neither dish was very hot and the vegetables served with mine tasted odd so I left them ,We both agreed we had eaten better fresher food at half the price elsewhere in Marrakech .We were very disappointed with our meal at this restaurant and would suggest having two meals elsewhere for the same price as one meal at this restaurant .I would agree the one of the previous reviews which suggests people eat at this restaurant to be seen there and not necessarily to enjoy good food.

A jump into a luxurious past.

As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you feel like you have been sent back in the Colonial age. If you get there too early for supper, you can enjoy a drink on the first floor (they serve alcohol), chilling out on moroccan-style sofas and drowning in a sea of colorful pillows; to calm your appetite, an extreamly various buffet-table is set downstairs...and that's included in the price of your drink! The menu they propose is french-moroccan, with dishes of fish or meat...all excellent! The portions are just right, not exaggerated like a normal moroccan cous-cous, food is very tasty, however not covered with spices or dressing and the service is quite quick. The only down mark I feel like giving is that the waiters are not as kind as you would expect them to be in such posh place, especially if they have to serve a group of young travellers. Still...I would definetly go back, if I happen to be in Marrakech again!
