Solo to Casablanca

Hi!
I'm planning on doing a solo-trip to Casablanca in February to meet a penpal. And I'd appreciate it if anyone has any advice for me. I'm a attractive girl in my early twenties, and will be staying with my friend during my visit. This will be my second trip to Africa, whereas my first visit was in Egypt, and I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous. I've read a lot of posts with warnings, but also positive posts.
I've traveled quite a lot, but mostly in Europe, and even though Egypt were a…

Hitchhinking and staying in villages, Morocco

Hi all,

I'm planning a 12 day trip to Morocco in January and hope to do some htichhiking and stay in local villages. Now thes villages are probly not having any hotels. let alone cheap hostels. Are inventations to local home's likely in Moroccan villages? I know in India once you get to small of the beaten path places an inventation to a home is hard to prevent.

For hitchhiking I think I will just try a small piece firts, for example from Fes to Meknes, wich isnt too far. Just to see how it…

map/cartography shop in Marrakesh (road map)

Hi
Does anyone know where to buy a road map that is reasonably suitable for driving around Morocco in Marrakesh?

Lonely planet recommends Michelin #742 and says it tends to be available in major Moroccan cities for sale. Anyone know of a shop in Marrakesh?

Thanks

From Marrakech to Agadir

Hi there,
Next week I'll be travelling to Marrakech and after a few days I have planned to go to Agadir.
Since I have read many suggestions about travelling by bus, private taxi or rental car I am confused about which option is the best and more important the shortest.
Could anyone tell me what the fastest way to travel from Marrakech to Agadir is?
Thanks so much!
Sarah.

Day walks/ hikes between Marrakesh and M'Hamid

Hi,
We are spending 8 or 9 days travelling from Marrakesh to M'Hamid and back (late December), via the N9 on the way and a different way through the mountains to return (we have a car).
Can anyone recommend good circular walks to do which are under 20km long. These could be small hills to walk up to get good views or ridges to walk along in the mountains. Anything really, as long as they are reasonably remote and have nice views. We also have a tent and warm sleeping bags so could walk to a wild…

Erg Chigaga from M'Hamid

Hi,

The wife and I are hoping to spend a night in the desert on roughly 22nd December. We have rented a car and will have our own tent and sleeping bags.

Is it possible to get a 4x4 ride out and back, without having to buy a package? Any idea how much this would cost? We are on a budget and don't need camel ride/food/tent.

Also.. Is it easy to find a tour or 4x4 taxi in M'Hamid? We should arrive around mid day and would like to get out to the desert before sunset. Will we be able to find…

lots of special questions: Dec/Jan with very livid toddler, 2 nature lovers and no driving licenses

Dear TT-Community,

I have used the forum for around 10 years now, but until now could always figure out everything by myself. Now for the first time I'm completely lost with iternary planning. Maybe someone wants to help. The real challenge is that we're flying into Fez and out of OUJDA.

We're a family of 3 - one of us is a very livid and running loving toddler who will be 16 months old when we fly out. We've already traveled with him for longer times in Europe and also went multi-day-hiking…

2 days/One night trip from Marrakech to Zagora

My boyfriend and I will be spending 4 days in Marrakesh in December third week and are hoping to do a 2 day / 1 night trip down to Ouarzazate and Zagora in order to see some of the things around Ouarzazate and to do a camel trip and spend the night in the desert near Zagora.

Is it worth it to do this trip or should we just spend the time in Marrakesh? Is the desert worth seeing in Zagora?

I am looking at the tour companies online which include travel, guided tour and a night in the…
