Help locals paint the island green during St Patrick’s Week (March 10 to 17), which celebrates Montserrat’s Irish heritage. In November, sweat it out with the other runners or simply cheer ’em on during the Volcano Half Marathon, which skirts the foothills of the occasionally still-belching Soufrière Hills Volcano. The year ends with good vibrations during the raucous Festival, the Montserrat version of Carnival.
Temperatures average between 76°F (24°C) and 88°F (32°C) year-round. The only time that’s potentially bad for a visit is during the hurricane season from July to November, when storms may disrupt transport to and from the island.
