The currency of Montserrat is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (EC$), and the official ­exchange rate is EC$2.72 to US$1.

US dollars are widely accepted. However, unless rates are posted in US dollars, as is the norm with accommodations, it usually works out better to use EC dollars. There’s little to buy using a credit card.

A 10% service charge is added to any dining bills you may manage to run up, in which case no further tipping is necessary.
