I’ve kept telling my friends visiting Montenegro from abroad that probably the best feature of this country is driving off its main roads. The Montenegrin Ministry of Tourism has finally started doing something about it and recently opened the first of many planned tourist-driving routes. It’s not only about driving, but stopping along for views, hiking, having a meal or coffee too.
The panoramic route #4 is (Circuit around Korita) is wonderful and easily doable in a day from Podgorica. The…
Trekking the Montenegrin side of the Accursed Mountains (Prokletije) is now easier due to some very reasonably priced accommodation additions primarily in Grbaje. Probably possible to camp in summer months too. You'll still need your own transport to get to Grbaje or it'll be a mini bus to Gusinje then taxi. Or many minibuses if coming from the south via Berane or Andrijevica or Plav, then taxi for the last 8km ride from Gusinje. On a positive note, the 17km road stretch through Albania is…
How crowded is Kotor mid July? Any suggestion on a great (atmospheric) place to stay? Can I go without reservation and if no, how much in advance do I need to book? I plan to stay 1-3 days and plan to go on hiking and maybe see the Tara canyon. Any must do's?
My boyfriend and I (both early 30s) will be in Montenegro in late August. We're mainly going for sun and swimming, but would like to explore a bit of the nature around as well. I guess we'll go to Kotor first and stay there for at least one night, as well as spend one night in Podgorica before leaving again.
That leaves us with one week. We're unsure whether we should base ourselves somewhere or move around and stay at different places across the country during that time. We don't want to rush…
In a few weeks we will be visiting Montenegro. We arrive at 9am in Dubrovnik, pick up our rental car, and have to be a few kilometres north of kotor by evening. We are travelling with three small kids, and we're hoping to stop on the way for a couple of hours on the beach. We read about Dobrec beach, and from what we read it sounds awesome. Kids are fascinated by boats, so the boat trip alone will be an adventure for them.
I can however not seem to find where exactly we need to find a…
My husband and I are looking at a holiday in Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro during sep/oct this year. I have been researching for a 7 day hike to throw into the mix, and a couple of them in Montenegro looks interesting. However, I cannot find any reviews about them, so am hoping that you fellow travellers can give me some idea about these companies.
One of them is http://www.walking-europe.co.uk/montenegro-king-petar-footsteps/ - that have an 8 day long walk. This ass can be seen is a UK…
I posted awhile back about a one day itinerary, however, I just learned that my ferry from Italy to Montenegro was cancelled! Trying to rework the itinerary and looking for some last minute help (this trip is in 2 weeks).
June 8th: Arrive Dubrovnik 8am, rent car. (Possibly Budva, Lake Skadar, and Mt. Lovcen). Where to stay overnight?
June 9th: Kotor overnight (this was booked before ferry changed)
June 10th: drive to dubrovnik (perast on the way back)
I am wondering what to do…

If anyone has some tips that would be very helpfull!
I am planning a trip with a friend of mine, all we have planned now is to arrive in Tivot on July 1st and to depart from Croatia on July 10th.
I am trying to plan a mix of beach time as well as site-seeing. We were thinking about a day trip to Albania, I would love any recommendations on what to do and see. Bosnia? Serbia?
Any favorite Hostels?
Would you recommend renting a car, or is public transportation pretty good?
We are ending in Croatia but going to skip Dubrovnik, Hvar, and Split as we…
