Hi Ladies and Gents,
If there is anyone around who'd like to do a tour around the start of October from Ulaanbaatar, reply here and we'll get something booked and split out the cost! I had a company quote me $1250 for a solo Gobi/Central Mongolia trip last 6 days/5 nights. If I could get this up to 3 or 4 we would probably be looking at something in the region of $500 each which would be pretty sweet. I'm totally up for it if someone has any better ideas of where to visit too!
I'll be arriving…

Hi Travelers to Mongolia,

From Hovsgol, my shaman teacher will go…
We read that you cannot go by bike when you passed mongolian border. You must have transport to Tashanta (24 km).
We met a couple that crossed border from Russia to Mongolia by bike. No problem
Does anybody know if it is possible to go by bike from Mongolia to Russia till Tashanta?
Thanks in advance
My Flights with Hunnair from UB to Murun , I have been cancelled. Any advice on other transport options , ONE WAY from UB to Murun in late September would be very much appreciated. Thanks , Mitch
Does anyone know the latest information on applying for a Chinese tourist visa in UB? There aren't any appointments at the visa centre in London (I'm a UK citizen) before I start my trip so my only option is to try to get a visa from Mongolia. Is it possible? How busy will the embassy be in mid-September? What documents do you need to provide?
Thanks very much.
Three sleeping bags for sale, large and warm, each 20.000 tugrug. New price was 35.000 each. We used them just a couple of days during our camping trip in west Mongolia. We are leaving on the 19th of August, meering point could be state department store in the city center.
I am a solo female traveller in my 30s and will arrive in Ulaanbaatar on 4 September for 2 weeks and looking to share costs on a tour, including Gobi desert, Kharkhorin, the lakes. Nothing set in stone however.
I came overland to Mongolia from Russia's Altay Mountains to Olgii, then went south through Khovd, Altai, Bayankhonger, Kharkhorin, and Tsetserleg, all by hitchhiking. I then went to Ulan Bator and north back to Russia a few days ago. It's not a very smart way to do it as an independent traveler. I think it is best to go to UB first and meet people to go on tours with--which is the only way to get off the beaten track. Otherwise, it seemed too hard to meet people who weren't already…
I know, its off-season!
But I'll be in Mongolia in October for about 10 days (travelling on the TS), and would be great to team up with some travel partners to do the off the beaten track stuff :) It's cheaper to split costs and I'm on a really tight budget!
