I am planning to cycle Mongolia starting early May of 2015 into mid June of 2015. I wanted to know what others have experienced cycling there this time of year. I know that British cyclistsTom Allen and Andy Welch did it in 2010 and reported positive experiences. I have heard that August and September are the optimal months but I am going through Mongolia as the start of a longer tour.
-How was the weather?
-still decent scenery with the lack of green?
My route will start in…
Hi there. I would like share my experience with Mongolia. Me and my husband came in Mongolia via train. Before we tried to reach to Travel Gobi Mongolia and my friend who traveled with them recomended this company to us. But until we departure our home country, we did not receive any email from them. There is some not very good relationship between Monhols and Chinese. I thought they did not want to serve to us.
In the morning of next day we arrived, we tried to find their office which is very…
Hello, my darling and I are travelling to Mongolia next year and would like to get married while we are there. Neither of us have been there before so I was hoping that someone who has been there might be able to suggest a place that took their breath away. We would love to get married somewhere beautiful.
Thank you in advance for your help.
I will be in Ulanbataar between 9 and 16 november. I would like to visit Hustai National Park. Are there local busses going there from the capital? Thanks for the info!
I am beginning to plan my trip to Mongolia next year. So far key objectives are;Mörön - Lake Hovsgol or alternative Kharakhorum Gobi Desert - Hongoryn Els, Khavtsgait, Yol Valley, Flaming Cliffs The Altai Mountains, Eagle hunters
I intend on travelling during September, and as much as possible I would live to travel independently, is this going to be feasible? With the exception of Kharakhorum, I am currently anticipating spending a week each in area, again is this sufficient…
This may be a shot in the dark and it is very possible that no one will be up for it but me and 6 of my friends will be in Ulaanbaatar from February the 26th to the 28th 2015 whilst on trip from Moscow to Tokyo.
Would any one we may have a team in Ulaanbaatar or has a few friends who may be interested like to have a game of 5 aside football with a bunch of Welsh and English lads who just want a good time really. Maybe we could have a game of footy and then you could show us…
I'm thinking of trying to go from Russia to Olgii, Mongolia for a climb of Tavan Bogd next summer but unsure how to get there without my own car. I could go via Irkutsk/Ulan-Ude to Ulaan Bataar then spend way too many days in jeeps which would be painful and not cheap. But there may be a bus thru the Altai.
"There is a bus from Tsagaannuur, Mongolia to Astana, Kazakhstan that passes through Altai Krai and the Altai Republic."
Where is Tsagaanuur? I put it in google maps and it…
Hi all, I will be attending the golden eagle festival in a few days in Olgii, as I am sure many others are too. I am wondering on the accommodation situation as it seems there are only a couple of hotels in town and not much info on ger camps etc.
Does anyone know if it be possible to camp or stay in gers at the actual venue (which I believe is a few km outside of the town)? - And how this might be arranged?
I have good topographic maps of Mongolia and a map of Central Gobi, that I don't Need anymore.
If you are interested, please see here and there.
