I was trying to make a reservation for a flight from Olgii or Khovd to Ulan Bator but there are no more flights.
I mean at least from October 3rd to 5th. I am leaving from Ulan Bator back home on October 5th late at night.
Probably that is because the eagle hunter festival that is actually taking place from October 1st to 2nd in Olgíi-
Does anyone knows if the bus ride or shared taxi actually stops during the long bus ride? I know it takes about two to three days. But when I mean stops I am…
I'm in Olgii between 9th July and 16th July hoping to do an as‐budget‐as‐possible hike in Altai Tavan Bogd. Is anyone else thinking of doing the same thing and would like to join up to reduce costs?
I am heading to UB for Nadaam and to meet up with my husband for our honeymoon!! Hyper excited! We are staying in an airbnb over the festival but will be picking up hire motorbikes to Tri around for 10 days. He already has all the camping gear, tent, stove, chair etc, all I need to get is a sleeping mat and a sleeping bag.
Where is the best place to buy this type of thing? I will be on UB for a week or so post the festival do could probably buy second hand as well.
Bit of a strange request and targeted at locals if possible. Can anyone recommend any shops in UB that sell Garmin 78s GPS systems - a few family friends are rallying and drive through UB in two days and urgently require a new system. Are there any stores that are worth checking for items like this?
Hello fellow travelers,
Can anyone recommend a tour company based in UB that provides family-geared tours (i.e., less driving, perhaps longer stays in one location, child-friendly, etc)? We'll be in Mongolia for 3 weeks in August and we'd like to do about 2 weeks of travel outside of UB. I've been quite interested in Tseren Tours, as they are recommended by LP and their response to my initial email was quite promising (they seem to understand traveling with children well). However, I'm not…
Hi to all,
My friend, Canadian woman, and I, Anglo-Argentine man living in Europe, will be in UB starting 20September until 29 September. We sill stay at Zaya hostel in UBand want to do their 5 day trip to Kharakhorin and other nearby areas. We will go no matter what but if anyone else is thinking of doing this trip in this time period, if we do it with a few people, it's much cheaper. If you're interested, let me know.
Cheers and happy trails.
Getting out of Mongolia overland from UB to Ulan Ude (Ulaan Uud equivalent in Mongolian Cyrillic) is a choice between train and bus. Train journey is significantly longer and more expensive than the 12 hours USD40 bus ride.
Don't believe if your guide book tells you that the bus departs from the parking lot in front of the UB train station. Don't believe it if it tells you that the bus tickets can be purchased only 7 days in advance. I followed my guide book recommendations and went to the trai…
