Lonely Planet review
Kitsch-tastic Hotel Mongolia is an unmissable walled palace of a hotel resembling ancient Karakorum. It's 2km short of Gachuurt, on the right side of the road. Luxurious rooms have private bath and shower, and the price includes breakfast. Even if you don’t stay here, it’s worth visiting for the kitsch ambience and excellent Asian-style restaurant (meals T8000 to T20,000), which serves a mixture of Mongolian and other Asian dishes and has an English menu and terrace seating. On hot summer days you can lounge on the ‘beach’ by the river, where there are simple, bathroomless 'beach cottages' for rent (twin/triple T40,000/50,000 per night).
Our independent authors have visited Hotel Mongolia and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Gachuurt.
