Itinerary
Day 1 Amman
Travel to Jordan's capital, one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world, with excavation revealing towers believed to date back to the Stone Age. See the impressive Roman theatre and take in panoramic views of the city from the Citadel.
Days 2-5 Wadi Rum Trek
Get acclimatised to the captivating atmosphere and outlandish scenery with a short walk from Disseh Village to the Umm el Twaggy camp, where the Bedouin hosts provide a tasty traditional meal. Continue on to traverse the magnificent desert canyon of Siq el Barrah, before camping between the mountains of Rakaa and Mharrak. Climb to the arch of Burdah and take in spectaculer vistas of of the dramatic landscape. Finally, head over the Um Fruth rock bridge and visit the inscriptions of Siq el Khazali.
Day 6 Petra
Head north through Wadi Um Ishrin to the quaint and comfortable Disseh Village, before making the final push for Petra in the afternoon.
Days 7-8 Petra/Amman
Visit Petra and walk down the narrow chasm of the city's only entrance to emerge at the El Khazneh. Walk through to the city centre, passing houses, tombs and the amphitheatre. Finally, reach the magnificent El Deir, the monastery that is carved into the rock and topped by a huge urn.
