Middle East

Fast Food restaurants in Middle East

  1. A

    Lebnani Snack

A reliable place for good-value Arabic fast food, such as a cheese and olive sandwich. There's an English menu and good juices too. There are four branches around town, including at Abdoun Circle and a good branch on Ilya Abu Madhi St in Shmeisani.

  2. B

    Moses

This popular burger place stays busy well after midnight, especially on weekends. You can eat outside on the deck overlooking beautiful Rothschild Blvd or sit in the air-con interior. Moses serves some of the best hamburgers in Tel Aviv: a plump, 200g mixture of seasoned lamb and beef served with tangy sauces and toppings, or you can choose from a selection of appetisers and sandwiches. After midnight the price of a burger and fries drops.

  3. Corniche

Along the Corniche in Al-Mina are ranged a number of ice cream parlours, heaving with locals on weekend evenings, whilst a straggle of floating coffee houses dispense hot drinks and snacks on the water itself. In the small streets behind the '46 restaurant are a number of nice bars that offer probably the most fun evening dining in town, all with the same sorts of mezze menus, along with pizzas, pastas and grills.

  4. C

    Sanad Winner Cafeteria

Local guys keep coming back to this popular fast-food place (especially late at night, when the pavement is packed) for its inventive pizzas (Dh15 to Dh30) – try the ‘mango craze' with beef strips, green pepper and slices of mango. There's also tangy shwarma (Dh4), generous club sandwiches (Dh8) and big burgers (Dh7).

  5. D

    Betty Ford

This retro funk bar/restaurant has a wonderful kitchen serving up delicious burgers topped with matbucha (cooked red peppers and tomatoes). Other great menu items include meat kebabs and grilled crab. The bathroom downstairs is an experience in itself with an (almost) unisex bathroom.

  6. E

    Yemenite Restaurant

This lively late-night fast-food joint is the place to pull up a plastic chair for your weekly quota of grease. For around ₪20 you can order a malawach, a large flaky-pastry pancake filled with either meat, mushrooms, egg or honey - making a substantial meal.

  7. Fast Food

The lower end of Chahar Bagh Abbasi St has the greatest concentration of Iranian fast food joints, selling pizza, sandwiches, burgers, ice cream and, occasionally, real kababs. The roads leading into Imam Sq also have a few options, but not the square itself.

  8. F

    Al-Baik

A kind of Saudi equivalent of KFC (but considered far superior by its fans) that comes complete with its own secret recipe. Well-heeled young Saudis are said to fly in from Riyadh and back especially for a chicken fillet fix for them and their friends.

  9. G

    Batata

Batata 'Do one thing and do it good' could well be the motto here; the one thing being French fries, which come with a choice of eight sauces (100 fils each). There are also hot drinks, including cappuccino (750 fils) and hot chocolate (500 fils).

  10. H

    Fastfood 'n' Juice Centre

Left of the entrance to the Mutrah Souq, with tables on the pavement, this thoroughly typical, local-style restaurant is an ideal place to people-watch over a shwarma and a 'chi lipton' (tea-bag tea with sweet condensed milk).

  12. Chicken Takeaway

Cheap eats can be found around the Saahat al-Sheikh Daher area, where you'll find fast-food places specialising in felafel, kebabs and shwarma. There's a good spit-rotisserie chicken takeaway next door to the Hotel Riyad.

  13. Anas Chicken

Locals swear this is the best eatery on the street. Its speciality is succulent roasted chicken with thick, hot, freshly fried potato crisps, and there are also tangy chicken shwarmas.

    Boof

This big, fast-food outlet has a grey-and-neon battleship interior and is worth visiting if only for the futuristic titanium column sinks in the toilets.

For a table with a view, the 7th floor of the Al-Mahmal Centre has several small restaurants serving Turkish, Lebanese and Filipino fast food.

  16. K

    Aboozar Restaurant

The rest of the bazaris seem to come here for fast, cheap and tasty meals. Arrive early or the best food will be gone.

  17. L

    Pearls Fast Food

Ideal if you crave a burger with chips at 03:00 and it also does a range of main dishes and breakfast.

  18. M

    BFC

    An amusingly blatant Kentucky takeoff.

  19. N

    Jaam-e Jam Food Court

You don’t come here for the fast food, though the coffee isn’t bad. You come to see the closest thing to a Western-style pick-up bar in Iran, complete with designer clothing and inches of make-up.
