    Little Jerusalem

The peaceful patio overlooking a grove of pine trees is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet dinner or late Israeli breakfast. The kitchen mixes Western and Mediterranean menus, with a nice selection of seafood and meat dishes. On Tuesday at 8.30pm, the restaurant hosts a wine and cheese evening (95NIS) with live jazz music. Chamber-music aficionados can hear a concert here on Friday at 11am (for an additional fee), while Jewish traditional music is played on Saturday evening. Advance bookings are essential.

  2. Chaykhuneh Baharestan

This atmospheric, if decidedly down-market 100% male teahouse is charmingly adorned with metalwork, sepia photos and Quranic murals. It’s ideal for a greasy fried-egg breakfast, cheap abgusht (aka dizi) lunch or a puff on the qalyan, and is populated by photogenically haggard old white-beards.

  3. Spring Onion

This is a popular two-storey dairy and vegetarian place beside the lagoon bridge in the hotel area. In addition to a great Israeli breakfast, you'll find fruit shakes, salads, pizza and fish dishes. The huge portions should tide you over for most of the day.
