The Estadio Jalisco, the main football venue (seating around 60,000), hosted World Cup matches in 1970 and 1986. Contact the stadium or tourist office for schedule information. Big games will cost you.

Fútbol flows through Guadalajaran blood. There are three local teams in Mexico's top league, the primera división: Guadalajara (Las Chivas; www.chivas.com.mx), the second most popular team in the country, Atlas (Los Zorros; www.atlas.com.mx) and Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (Los Tecos; www.tecos.com.mx).
