I'd recommend San Cristobal for sure, and the surrounding villages (like Chamula, Zinacantan etc). Palenque is a must. The Sumidero…

As I said before, if you do not stay at the ruins ( tikal) you miss out on a lovely experience...the ruins to yourself before the hoards…

3 its a nice drive through Jungle. Montebello is nice but so is Las Nubes. I did it in the winter so it wasn't that hot.
