Lonely Planet review

Once owned by John Wayne, Johnny ‘Tarzan’ Weissmuller and their pals, Los Flamingos is a living museum to Acapulco’s heyday. Perched on a cliff 135m above the ocean, this classic boasts one of the finest sunset views in town and a popular bar and restaurant. Images of Hollywood’s golden age grace the walls. The rooms are modest and comfortable. For a retro splurge, rent out Tarzan’s Round House (Johnny Weissmuller’s former residence), a circular cliffside suite sleeping six.

Our independent authors have visited Hotel Flamingos and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Playas La Bocana & Las Peñitas.
