Lonely Planet review
This ecologically run, long-established guesthouse ('where the '60s never end') climbs a hill and has great views right along the beach. In part a spiritual retreat, with its own meditation hill and no alcohol or illegal drugs permitted, it’s also a tranquil and economical place to stay, with varied, rustic accommodations. The restaurant (mains M$50–90) serves no red meat.
Shambhala hosts a big spiritual festival, embracing all beliefs, every New Year’s Eve, and is often full over the Christmas–New Year's period.
Our independent authors have visited Shambhala and selected this as one of our recommended guesthouses in Zipolite.
