    This neocolonial-style hotel is set around two good pools in palm-shaded gardens. The 60-plus rooms have attractive terracotta-tile floors and wood furnishings, and the airy vegetarian-and-seafood restaurant looks out along Zicatela beach. There's a three-night minimum in some busy periods and discounts are often available – check the website.

    Set between the beaches of Zicatela and Marinaro, this colonial-style hotel features 4 outdoor pools and a restaurant. Hotel Santa Fe is located in Puerto Escondido, on the coast of Oaxaca.

    Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, the Santa Fe offers beautiful rooms with Mexican décor in light colours, featuring wooden furniture and tiled floors. The bathrooms feature hand-painted tiles.

    Each bright room at Hotel Santa Fe comes with a satellite TV and a private balcony that offers views of the hotel’s gardens. The suites include a minibar and a fridge.

    The restaurant is located under a traditional Palapa roof, and offers views of the Pacific Ocean. It serves Mexican and international cuisine, as well as seafood dishes, salads and daily specials.
