Upstairs at the southwest corner of the Zócalo, the Asador Vasco serves up good Oaxacan, Basque and international food. It’s strong on meat, seafood and Oaxacan specialties. For a table overlooking the plaza on a warm evening, reserve earlier in the day.

    the view is better than the food

    ontheroad75570 does not recommend this,

    I went to El Asador Vasco last week with a big group. I ordered a steak. The quality of the meat was average but not great. But the steak was very small. They wanted a premium price for those few bites of meat. When I said something to the server she did not want to hear it. As a group we felt ripped off. Our group ate at more than 12 places in Oaxaca and this was the worst.
