I am going to Mexico City for 5 days at the end of November and I wanted to spend one day and night outside of the City in the country side as it seems there are some wonderful smaller towns within a 2 1/2 hour bus ride.
I am looking for something quaint with maybe some hiking trails around and good food. I was thinking maybe Tepoztlan? But it is so close to the City...so maybe Mineral Del Chico or Taxco? It seems there may be a Festival in taxco around the time I would be going…
My question involves a problem that I'm sure is not unique but that I haven't seen addressed in depth on the forum.
My wife has a back and sciatica issue that makes it difficult for her to walk any distance, especially in hilly places. Using a cane for support does help somewhat.
We are fairly seasoned Mexico travelers (I have posted here a few number of times), but since this issue has arisen fairly recently, most of the places we have been or think of going to are now very challenging to…
I have 2 weeks off this December and want to find a quiet, out of the way place to chill without breaking the bank.
Ideally, within an hour or 2 of PV.
Are there any towns with affordable beach cabanas still available?
I don't need night life, I don't need to surf.
I do want a quiet beach, good place to snorkel, plentiful seafood and a quiet cabin or room close to the water.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks in advance!
I am planning a "December in Mexico" trip and could use some help. We are renting a car in Cancun, then spending few days in Tulum and in Bacalar. Leaving Bacalar on 12/8, and have reservation in San Cristobal for 12/11 and 12/12. After that, I have a reservation in Oaxaca City for 12/22-26. And after that, we have return tickets for 1/1 from Cancun. I need to fill in the blanks.
I am thinking:
12/8 Drive from Bacalar to Palenque
12/9 Maybe see ruins in Palenque (we have been but they are…

Greetings all. Coming up soon I will be in Chiapas for 6 nights and have a few routing questions with a timing component. I will be flying roundtrip from Mexico City (MEX), with the return flight to MEX having to occur in the morning hours to accomodate a same day mid-afternoon return flight to the U.S.
While in Chiapas and given my relatively short stay, I want to visit Palenque and San Cristobal primarily. It looks like I can a make a loop by using both Tuxtla and Villahermosa as either an…
Hello Lonely Planet,
I am planning on a trip to Mexico between December 26 and January 5. We are planning on landing in Cancun and then exploring the Yucatan province, Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel. Any highlights between these areas that are a no-miss?
As I live in central Mexico and wish to escape some of the cold weeks of winter, I am planning on going to Laguna Bacalar. While researching a place to stay for a night or two in Chetumal, I came across places in Mahahual as well. I am not much of a beach person anymore, but if it is possible to get there without hiring a car, I might spent 4 or 5 nights there. Now that cruise ships stop there and that they have even built a regional airport, I imagine it won't be too long before this place…
