This branch covers travel to and around Mexico.

Here are some tips to help you find the information you want and need:

1. Research before asking a question. It will help you get better, more detailed and useful answers from the community if you've already done some homework. It's also polite. The community is here to help, but we're not your personal search engine. Invest some preliminary time and we'll help you fill in the gaps.

2. Explore Lonely Planet's Destinations online, which has a…

Hi all

We are a couple and are planning to travel from India to Mexico on 21 November 2017 for two weeks (excluding travel time to and fro India) for our honeymoon. We are looking to do a mix of things, including visiting some historical sights, centos, scuba diving and lazying on picturesque beaches. This is our first trip to Mexico and we would be very grateful for your inputs on planning the perfect Mexico itinerary.

Based on our research, we'd like to visit the following places:
(i) Mexico…

Hi all, I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find anything recent on the forum. I am currently in Mexico City and trying to plan my next steps travelling round Mexico. I was interested in going North, specifically Guanajuento, Zacatecas, Chihuahua to Sinaloa (for Copper Canyon) states but have heard conflicting information as to whether these states are safe to travel in. Similarly I wanted to go to the West states of Jalisco and Michoacan but again have heard different accounts as to…

HI, I plan to leave Florida this Thursday, 4/27, for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and I wonder if I should lock my backpack prior to hand it to the airline attendant at the check in.
I generally did not do it for other South and Central Americas but for Mexico I do not know. Pls advise. I wonder if LP travel guide recommend it Thanks a lot. Yes I have the travel guide. What would you recommend?

I'm planning a trip to mexico for 8 days the first week of June (flying in from Houston) and wondering where I should prioritize...I've never been (other than to a resort). I'm looking for authentic mexico and not tourist-driven. My thoughts are mexico city (including Puebla) OR guadalarja (including beach north or south of puerto vallarta) and/or oaxaca (and a beach excursion). Any insights would be greatly appreciated! My priorities are authentic culture and beautiful scenery (preferably…

Hi,

Two friends looking to travel Mexico and do a mixtures of sites and ruins. We'd have between 8-10 days and I'm looking for insight. We were thinking

Fly from US to Mexico City and spend 4 days there.
Fly to Merida and spend 2 days there and rent a car.
Drive Merida to Valladolid and spend 1-2 days there to see the ruins.
Drive Valladolid to Cancun and spend 1-2 days on beach relaxing.
Fly back Cancun to US.

Wondering whether driving is pretty straight-forward, we can rent a car in Merida…

All,

Are there any specific, basic safety concerns to keep in mind while in Mexico City? Other than the obvious ones, like not using most ATMs found on streets and not inside banks; not appearing to be lost, even if you are; etc. Mexico City-specific advice. :)

And on a related but different note, aside from fanny packs and speaking loudly in English, are there any other suggestions you have for not appearing to be overly "Gringo?" For example, I'm guessing from Google Images that most…

Hi all,
Sorry to repost on a similar topic that has been discussed before but looking for some specifics that I don't think have been covered.
I'm flying into TGZ/Ángel Albino Corzo International Airport this July for a short trip (conference + some personal travel). For the first part of the trip at least I will be travelling solo. My flight arrives at TGZ at around 9:22pm on a Thursday evening. I know that it's possible to catch a bus or a cab from TGZ directly to San Cris. However, from what…
