Mercado Medellín: Real Mexican Food in La Roma

    anonimo recommends this,

Mercado Medellín in Colonia Roma is one of the cleanest, best organized mercados we've visited in Mexico. That doesn't mean that it's without color and life. The "atmosphere" is not contrived but represents the vendors putting their wares out in the most alluring ways possible.

Check out the spectacular carnicerías, with "curtain-sized" slabs of chicharrón. (Fried pork skins). Maybe get some exotic tacos of nana or buche from the carnitas men over by the wall nearby.

Save major appetites for a seafood feast at reasonable prices at Ostionería La Morenita. Save some change for the roving singer-guitar player who'll entertain you.

You can get there by Metrobus on Insurgentes, then walk a couple of blocks on Campeche. Also, Metro Chilpancingo is not very far to the south. (The Mercado NOT in Ciudad Universitaria.)

Before you leave, stroll through the produce and specialty products areas and get some Cuban or Colombian products, or a hand of fresh ginger root, at bargain prices
