This branch covers travel to and around Mexico.

Here are some tips to help you find the information you want and need:

1. Research before asking a question. It will help you get better, more detailed and useful answers from the community if you've already done some homework. It's also polite. The community is here to help, but we're not your personal search engine. Invest some preliminary time and we'll help you fill in the gaps.

2. Explore Lonely Planet's Destinations online, which has a…

Hi,

I'm looking at starting a Mexico trip in Baja California eventually catching a ferry from La Paz across to the mainland. I will likely fly into Mexico from the US. So my question is where to start?

If I fly into Ensenada is there any places worth visiting on the way to La Paz? There isn't a lot of information I can find on the middle of Baja, just the top and bottom so should I try to fly straight into La Paz or should I look at flying into Ensenada catching a bus to La Paz and doing a few…

Hi! I am trying to put together a trip with the destination being Zipolte. I'm looking at flights going from BOS, last year we went to CUN which we got to relatively cheap. I am now looking to HUX and it is thousands. I am looking for advice. Perhaps another airport, Mexico city and take a small jump flight? or rent a car? is PV even better? Since we went to Cancun, and around that area, we are looking for a new spot. I realize these dates are the prime season but any tips are greatly…

Hi there,

A friend and I have a start-up and are planning to re-locate for a year to somewhere in Latin America (including, possibly, Belize).

We spent some time in Sayulita (in 2009) and Montanita (in 2012) as travelers and really loved our time there. We appreciated their liveliness, energy, and Bohemian vibes that are uncommon in small towns.

I wanted to ask if anyone who has been to these towns knows of others that are similar.

Ideally we're looking for a place that's accessible from a…

Hello everyone,

I will be visiting Oaxaca and also San Cristobal (among other places) during October.
Referring to many market days i hear about, what day is a good day to start exploring this two places if i have around 4-5 days to be in each major city (Oxaca / San Cristobal).

I wouldn't like to come on a day, when there are no markets for 3-4 days. this would be really sad. so i'm trying to sync my arrival with the markets.

I would like to visit the markets in the villages, and explore the…

Hi everyone,

I am going to Mexico City for 5 days at the end of November and I wanted to spend one day and night outside of the City in the country side as it seems there are some wonderful smaller towns within a 2 1/2 hour bus ride.

I am looking for something quaint with maybe some hiking trails around and good food. I was thinking maybe Tepoztlan? But it is so close to the City...so maybe Mineral Del Chico or Taxco? It seems there may be a Festival in taxco around the time I would be going…

My question involves a problem that I'm sure is not unique but that I haven't seen addressed in depth on the forum.

My wife has a back and sciatica issue that makes it difficult for her to walk any distance, especially in hilly places. Using a cane for support does help somewhat.

We are fairly seasoned Mexico travelers (I have posted here a few number of times), but since this issue has arisen fairly recently, most of the places we have been or think of going to are now very challenging to…

I have 2 weeks off this December and want to find a quiet, out of the way place to chill without breaking the bank.
Ideally, within an hour or 2 of PV.
Are there any towns with affordable beach cabanas still available?
I don't need night life, I don't need to surf.
I do want a quiet beach, good place to snorkel, plentiful seafood and a quiet cabin or room close to the water.

Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks in advance!

I am planning a "December in Mexico" trip and could use some help. We are renting a car in Cancun, then spending few days in Tulum and in Bacalar. Leaving Bacalar on 12/8, and have reservation in San Cristobal for 12/11 and 12/12. After that, I have a reservation in Oaxaca City for 12/22-26. And after that, we have return tickets for 1/1 from Cancun. I need to fill in the blanks.
I am thinking:
12/8 Drive from Bacalar to Palenque
12/9 Maybe see ruins in Palenque (we have been but they are…
