Allegedly the best of its kind in Latin America, Veracruz' aquarium still falls a long way short of similar establishments in the US and Europe. Situated 2km south of the center in a small generic mall on the waterfront, its centerpiece is a large doughnut-shaped tank filled with sharks, rays and turtles that glide around visitors. For a really dramatic encounter, though, climb into the Tiburonería, a transparent safety cage that is lowered into a pool of feeding sharks.
