Lonely Planet review for Lorenzillo’s
Reputed by locals to be Cancún’s best seafood restaurant, Lorenzillo’s gives you 19 separate choices for your lobster presentation, including a taste-bud-popping chipotle, plum and tamarind sauce. Facing the lagoon, it’s a good sunset joint.

Beautiful setting, great service and try the camarones!
hjarvis recommends this,
We've been to Lorenzillo's many times and have been extremely happy with the service every time except for once and that time we walked in on a busy night without a reservation. We still got a table but had to wait for service. On another occasion, we went with a group of 10 and had our own waiter and waiter's assistant. We've sat out on the deck overlooking the lagoon during beautiful sunsets and sat in the bar area for salads. Its all been great. Its an expensive restaurant but worth it!

I can't give the service 0 stars so I'll settle for 1

We were able to get a table right on the water which was great. The water adjacent to the restaurant is illuminated and you can see dozens of different types of fish and some small sharks fighting for scraps that diners toss their way. We got king crab legs to start and they were tasty but, I might add, hard to screw up. I had the grouper stuffed with lobster and shrimp as an entree which was disappointing. I'm not sure why but it seems that every seafood meal I had in Mexico was overcooked and rubbery and Lorenzillos kept that horrible streak alive. The lobster and shrimp had been vulcanized and the grouper was dry. The service was bad. It was a chore to get our waiter to take our order as well as just to get another glass of wine. The worst part of the experience came when I got home to read my credit card statement. I left the tip in cash (somewhere between 15-20%) because I was leaving the next day and wanted to get rid of some extra pesos. I got home to see that they added an extra 20% charge to my credit card anyway which is really annoying. And no, the tip was not included in the bill.
