About me

I used to backpack overseas frequently, for 2-4 months at a time, before I discovered the joys of townhouse mortgages. These trips have mainly been to the southern hemisphere, although I visited Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Israel and Egypt in 1997/98. My last big trip was to Nepal – in 2003! I currently work as a Catastrophe Risk Scientist (!) at Macquarie Uni. I have done as many sustainable things to my townhouse as I could think of, and have converted the grounds to lovely Permaculture gardens. I do bush regen just below my place. I plan to visit Jordan for an International Permaculture conference in ~September 2011, and hope to take my nephew, who will be 11 by then. After Jordan we will visit Egypt, as the pyramids are one of the main things on my nephew’s “must-see” list.

The picture of me was taken whilst doing a Permaculture Design Certificate course run by Geoff Lawton, in November 2007, by Nick Ritar – check out his and his partner Kirsten’s amazing Permaculture property at Milkwood: http://www.milkwoodpermaculture.com.au/
