About me

Throughout my teen years I always knew I wanted to travel. I’d been on a cross-country road trip through Canada with my father when I was 12, but hadn’t done any traveling since then. I learned to play the guitar when I was 15 and since then my love of music has grown exponentially by year. In one year I decided to buy concert tickets to all of my favourite bands who were playing I went on little mini-adventures to Victoria and Vancouver. Then my first real adventure: Canadian rock band, Rush was playing a tour, but weren’t going to be in BC. They were however, going to be in White River, Washington (a few hundred km south of Seattle). So me and my girlfriend at the time bought tickets, gathered up our respective ID’s and hopped the ferry from Victoria to Seattle. Well as first time travelers, we were bound to make first time traveler mistakes… we reserved our hotel with someone else’s visa, expecting to pay cash when we got there, but they wouldn’t let us without the visa in hand. So we looked around for a hostel, and we surprised to find Seattle has only one downtown. So we went to the only other option: The “historic” Panama Hotel. That’s right, and they charge by the hour too. Well we got to the concert and enjoyed a concert that ranks in my top 5 I’ve ever seen, but afterwards the buses from White River did not sink up with the train back to Seattle. This is where I discovered my love of adventure. A man overhearing our problem on the bus offered us a ride back to Seattle. A very nice guy named Mike on his way to see his mom, while in seattle from Florida. He drove us all the way out of his way to the front door of our hotel. I decided then that travel is beautiful and that I actually enjoyed when things went wrong because it was an opportunity to have a change of plans. I now go to school studying music to one day be a teacher and professional musician, but I still have the travel longing. I have planned a trip in 2010 to Spain to cycle across the country.
