So many choices - Glasgow has given the world more great bands than any other city. A few selections:

      Consolation Prize - Orange Juice
      Everything Flows - Teenage Fanclub
Scooby Driver - Belle & Sebastian
Eleanor Put Your Boots On - Franz Ferdinand
Truck Train Tractor - The Pastels

      I could go on!

For a road trip, all you need is...

      Ramones, by the Ramones
Goodbye California by East River Pipe (though good luck getting hold of that one)
And the soundtrack to the film Vanishing Point

Two LPs forever Australia '99 - Belle & Sebastian's 'Boy With The Arab Strap' and Teenage Fanclub's 'Songs From Northern Britain'. Best ever Aussie album? '(I'm) Stranded by Saints.

Ice cream discovered in FFrench mountain town

The relative altitude and constant, gentle breeze blowing through the forested valleys of the Cevennes region of France (just north of the Languedoc) keep the summer heat at bay, but there's always the need for ice cream. This is George Hall and I passing a pleasant hour.

The area of the Cevennes around St Jean du Gard is brilliant for dad travellers. There are lots of rivers to swim in - and float down if you're happiest in an inflatable, a steam train to ride on or just gaze open-mouthed at, and few of the crowds that are found in more popular spots.

Zambia to Botswana ferry The ferry from Zambia to Botswana may not be a secret, but it was a lot of fun after the wettest rainy season for a generation!
