Hi Amalita
I'm going to Barcelona soon too! The venue I'm familiar with is Sala Apolo in Poble Sec - from memory, there are two main rooms within it. They have great live bands and themed nights too. Their website is:

commented on hmmmm... worst live gig? Hmmmm... i went and saw the Brian Jonestown Massacre which started off good but they seemed to lose it after a while taking 10 minute breaks every 2nd song and they werent even talking with the crowd during that time. That might be ok if you are in a pub and everyone is chilling out, but when you've paid $50 or so for the gig at a proper venue then noone is interested in watching you just sit round smoking cigarettes. in Rockin' all over the world
I've heard many stories about the Brian Jonestown Massacre's..umm...erratic live performances! Sounds like you caught 'em on a bad night, to put it mildly... Hungary sounds like an exotic place for a music festival! My best music festival ever would be PRIMITIVE in Rotterdam, although this year I'm off to Madrid to check out the GO SINNER GO festival in June... Yowzah!

That's pretty cool - I bet she boasts about that to her friends. My first concert was (cough) Spandau Ballet. Not something I'm very proud...

Oops, sorry Mr Penney - I hadn't had my morning coffee when I responded, so the misunderstanding was completely my fault. D'oh....

In an effort to reanimate this very dead group, I thought I'd pose the following question, something that any self-respecting music-lover would have an opinion about...
**What's the worst live gig you've ever seen, why was it so bad, and where was it????**I've seen a fair bit of crapola in my time but the band that springs to mind faster than any other is REM. Saw 'em at the Perth Concert Hall in 1989 and the soul-sapping sense of lethargy they inspired in me remains crystal clear in my memory. Talk about over-rated: that band is like piped supermarket muzak. Didn't help that the concert was seated - sitting during a gig doesn't help anybody's cause....

Hey all you North American groovers, or those of you heading to the US in March-April...have I got good news for you! None other than the rock'n'rolling, groovin', soulin' KING KHAN & THE SHRINES are going to be touring the country, visiting cities as diverse as Atlanta, Chattanooga (as you do), Memphis, Austin, Boise (last time I heard Boise mentioned was in "Pink Flamingos" FFS!) and San Francisco. Check out their MySpace page for dates: http://www.myspace.com/kingkhantheshrines Easily the best live band I've seen this year so far - they put on a mind-blowing show, complete with screaming, shouting, sweating, showing off and absolutely masterful musicianship. Your life will be vastly improved for seeing them in action, folks.

Why oh why isn't Melbourne in Europe? If it was, I'd be traipsing from Berlin (tomorrow night, as a matter of fact) to Malmo to Stockholm to Helsinki all the way through to Toulouse, Paris and Madrid in pursuit of the BEST BAND EVER - the Sonics! Yes, they've featured in this group before, but as the good man says: too much Sonics is never enough...and this European tour is the perfect opportunity for a right royal Sonics overdose.
