About me

 Since 2005, I’ve been the founder/editor of a blog called ShortWaveMusic, which preserves the sound of music (and/or musical speech and noise) as heard via shortwave radio. Each year, I take my radio and recording equipment abroad and spend a few weeks methodically recording the broadcasts heard from that location. These broadcasts may include local low-power stations, pirate and clandestine transmissions, or traditional licensed broadcasters. I then post the resulting recordings over the course of the next year. So far I’ve recorded in Ibiza (2009), Bulgaria (2010) and the United Arab Emirates (2010), and I’m planning a trip to Mali in early 2012.
