I would definitely love to immerse myself in the Afghan culture once it's safe enough. I wouldn't like to go with a tour group though... How long do you think it would take to be safe enough for independent travelers?

Pubs in Ottawa? Hm... Well the Byward Market is full of them, but they are all pretty much crap, IMHO. I enjoy the Dominion Tavern and also Zaphod Beeblebrox for live music at night.

Sorry I can't help you out with jazz clubs in Montreal though. I've been to the Jazz Festival in Montreal before though, it's a great time.

Nice to meet you Will, if you're ever in Ottawa, come and visit.

Why are you in Afghanistan? I love Indian food, I'd love to go to Afghanistan sometime.
