About me
Writer, photographer, retailer and now it’s back to travelling following a stroke.
Norway, Cyprus, Orkney and Prague have been the destinations for recent leisure trips along with return visits to Wales and the Lake District.
Most recent trip was to the Yorkshire Coast in the last full week of November. They say that there’s a first time for everything, so staying in a Goth-themed guesthouse with a bat hanging off the four poster bed was a genuinely new experience!
The summer break comprised and 11 day, 1000 mile road trip in Norway, taking in the Norwegian Riviera then Stavanger, Bergen and Oslo. A great trip that was very enjoyable and relaxing. We were however brought down to earth with a big bump a few days after we returned home when the bomb went off and senseless killings occurred…
Just to prove that you don’t have to go far to have a good trip with excellent accommodation, food, hospitality and excellent beaches, my myself and my partner paid last year a return visit to an old stamping ground – Northumberland.
Based ourselves in Alnwick this time at Castle Gate B&B, ate locally on a night (can recommend Blackmore’s Bistro section on a Sunday night) and also whilst on the move around the coast – cafes in Bamburgh and the tea room/bistro on the main street in Alnmouth too.
Most visited place though over the last two years has been the North Norfolk Coast. The five trips have been at different times of the year, but each one has been different in itself as we’ve headed to different places, taken part in different activities and shot plenty of photographs in the changing lighting conditions. The area is both peaceful and beautiful with plenty to do and see…
Plans for the future – Norway in winter, Morocco, around Europe by rail and return visits to Ireland, Poland, Scotland and Iceland. Belgium and The Netherlands are also on the list too. Now bring me that horizon!!!
