before one thinks about volunteering one should also think if it would be really useful for the locals. Only if one stays for longer time...

About me
i was born in Jaipur and being in other cities for work & education in India finally i realized after completing my Ph.D and working as the center head for one of the corporate companies that i am NOT made for this. it was 4 yrs back when i finally made up my mind to locate myself in Udaipur with my family and since then i have been working in the social sector.
I have worked and created projects in a number of fields mostly in education and women’e empowerment( have worked with volunteer. scholars and staff of MIT, Oxford, Cambridge Yale etc). Finally after working with a HUGE organization and living in more then 20 villages in and around Udaipur. Finally i realized i want to do something with my heart something where i do not have to deal with the slowness and bureaucratic structure and hence started my own organization. Its a new organization with old and experienced people who have been working in development sector for more then 30 yrs.
Right now we have ongoing projects on education and we have been trying to set up a youth resource center, this project is totally individually funded, as in India its not possible to get any support or funding from Government for the 1st few yrs.
Development Action Awareness Nationwide is an organization where every single thing is as transparent as it can be, Volunteers have complete liberty about how they will contribute and where they would invest there donations. One of the most important thing is we make sure NOT to flood the organization with a LARGE number of volunteers which is a case in a number of organization and then it ends up into a club for gap yr students.
I have a home-stay—( http://homestay-in-rajasthan.weebly.com/ )and a major portion of the revenue generated goes directly towards these development projects, the idea of this home stay is to make the travelers feel like home and also to have a source to fund this newly construed organization.
Namaste
