It depends WHEN you're going. If it's now (Nov./Dec.) I'd definitely suggest the Similan & Surin Islands.
I did my OW and my AOW there :-)
A liveaboard is the most comfortable option I think but you can also get there by speedboat from Khao Lak among other places.
