    Underage Drinkers

My friend was flying to New Zealand with a SCREAMING toddler. This child filled the air with his screams, without ceasing. The only breaks in transmission were for intake of breath. Every now and again she would hide in the toilet with him. After a while in there, hostesses would come and knock on the door to make sure she was not flushing the screaming child down the crapper. After what seemed like an age, the hostess asked if she needed a drink. Damn right she did.Gin and Tonic, heavy on the Gin, and just wave the tonic nearby. The hostess brought a double G&T. The child GRABBED THE G&T AND TIPPED IT DOWN HIS THROAT. All of it. He went to sleep almost instantly, and woke up in Auckland with no ill effects.

    Second Vote: Pilsner Urquell

Can I have a second vote? Drinking this stuff in Prague is one of the finest ways to spend an afternoon.

My earliest travel memory is of a trip to the snow in the late 60's. Falls Creek, Victoria (Australia). Wooden skis, leather ski boots, wooden toboggans, wrong clothing, laughter.

    Southern Backroads of the US

Read "Blue Highways" by William Least-Heat Moon.

It's a lot more than a travelogue of a fast - disappearing part of America. The blue highways are the ones on the road atlas which are NOT superhighways - so this is a journey through the happily marginalised small communities of the Southern states. Check it out.

    Gippsland Gold Ale is Heavenly

This stuff is heaven in a bottle. Robust, tasty, great hoppy flavour with none of the metallic aftertatse which can be a problem with ales IMHO. I;lll never forget walking into the MarloPub, smack bang the heart of East Gippsland overlooking the mouth of the Snowy River, and asking for one of these. Thinking I was home and hosed, right here in the quintessential Gippsland location. Asking for a Gippsland brew. How good was this?

Nope. They looked at me like I had three heads and said with a straight face they'd never heard of the stuff.

Then turned back to their Carlton Draught muttering about bloody Melbourne yuppy wankers.

HOLD the PRESS, New Best Breakfast in the entire world.

    Mojo Muesli.http://www.mojomuesli.com.au/page_1.html

This is what most muesli just dreams of becoming. Homemade, with giant bits, bigger than you knuckles, all kinds of nuts, wild figs, enormous puffed oats. Cashews, even.

Honestly. Look no further. This is the duck's nuts.

I have heard tell of folks who spread vegemite on their toast soldiers which are used to scoop out the insides of boiled eggs. It's madness, I tell you. That aint right.

    Vegemite on toast.

Come on, you know it's the best way to start the day! Soomething that looks so disgusting has GOT to be good for you. PLUS, it is a byproduct of beer manufacture.
