About me
Kerryn worked at Lonely Planet’s head office in Melbourne, Austrlaia, from 1999 until 2008 as an editor, managing editor, commissioning editor and author. She wrote parts of the 9th edition of the Canada guidebook, contributed to Code Green, and commissioned a stack of Middle East guidebooks.
During this time she travelled to Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Egypt, mostly alone. To anyone who says the Middle East is tough for solo women travellers, she says: try it and see. Iran and (until the current civil war) Syria are among her favourite places in the world for their hospitality and friendliness.
Kerryn has since worked for Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine and written a guide to the sweetest camping spots from Victoria to Queensland, Cool Camping Australia: East Coast. (Check it out at [Link Removed]
Kerryn spends most of her annual leave hiking and camping. She’s walked about 120km of the Australian Alps Walking Track and has about 530km to go. If you find one of her food drops in a cache under a snow gum, please don’t eat the chocolate.
