Oh and they lock the main door after 9pm every night. All of the rooms are locked an the only keys are kept in reception.

About me
I don’t consider myself a world traveler, though I would certainly like to be. I have been to Australia on a college study-travel for 5 months (including New Zealand). I went to Belize with my high school biology class, but the best trip of all was my first visit to Ecuador in January 2009 with my college’s Spanish class. Now I am going back for my fourth time to Ecuador! I have worked in Parque Itchimbia, for the Yanapuma Foundation, as an intern coordinator and now as a hostal intern. I love sharing my knowledge about Ecuador.Recent activity

How about Hostal Otavalo Huasi? It's right in the middle of la Mariscal and there are clubs on every corner. Its close to food and bars as well, though that means you'll be hearing some of the music throughout the night. But the hostel is clean (they clean it every day), it's owned by 5 Otavaleno siblings (all under 30 years), who are fun-loving and very friendly. They might even take you out for some drinks! Breakfast is included and rooms are $10 or less depending if you share a bathroom and room. I can help you contact them and make reservations if you'd like.

I would recommend spending some time in Quito over Guayaquil, but that depends on the sort of weather you enjoy. If you're a warm weather,...
