Well good for you for having a go. I love the cover if that's anything to go by.

I’m a keen traveller. I usually travel for work, but try to squeeze as much pleasure from that as I possibly can. I love taking photos and writing about my trips.Recent activity

commented on Can I tout my own books? They aren't avail at the mo - however - wrote all my experiences into a trilogy of self published books then found Bill Bryson does it a lot better than me! No wonder he got a book deal and I didn't. Mine need re-writes and edits now from 10 years down the track. Interestingly, Orwell's Down and Out in Paris is similar too, eerie how little had changed in 70 years or so! in Travel Literature

Quentin. You will have a fabulous time. The rail pass works really well. I went for a week a few years ago: I based myself in Osaka and took rail trips out each day. Because the trains go so fast you can be anywhere in a few hours. Closeby is Nara - a beautiful spiritual place even if it is a prime tourist attraction. You must visit Kyoto and stay a few days. I also spent a day at Himeji castle.
Other destinations that I have visited on other occassons incude Nikko (never say "great" without seeing Nikko) and Hakone. Hakone is famous for hot springs. Stay in a Riokan. If you love trains the rail journey from Tokyo to Hakone is wonderful.
Of course you should also spend some time at Mt Fuji. I only had a fleeting glance during my last trip but more would have been great.
There are so many wonderful places I have yet to visit. Its all good.about 2 years ago -

This segue has me guessing - so maybe someone can shed some light.
I didn't think you were meant to post more than one photo in a row.about 2 years ago -

Blanche de Bruges: a pale yellow beer made from wheat. Creamy and spicy and usually served with a slice of lemon.

in the spirit of this segue game I am matching a tomb in New Delhi with this tomb in Mycenae. This is an old photo taken with a film-type pentax SLR. the photo was taken on my very first overseas trip. That's me in the white dress.
