commented on I am a 50 year old single mother, with a 6.5 year old son (currently living in Oxford), planning to take a year out from `july 2011 and do a RTW. Now that I've used the abbreviation I feel part of the community. Would love to hear from anyone similar (singe parent single child) who has done it, or is planning to. My 'hobby' is mental health services, and I'm interested in visiting services in various parts of the world. A DOG?! how are you travelling? Is it a big one? And yes, I do think that the educational side of it will be amazing. I feel a bit torn about whether to travel asia or europe, as I"d love the chance for 'boy' (Fintan) to be immersed in another language. thanks akmama for your reply - mummy1, your blog is inspiring and entertaining and I shall show my boy and maybe we can set up a correspondance. Was it difficult learning how to do all that? Your journey has some similarities with what I'm planning. I'd be very interested to know more about how much it is costing.... Thanks, Julie

The best breakfast I ever had was in Eritrea, where the ful or egg breakfast might be something like what you get in North Africa. Mashed beans with salad & lemon, & lovely fresh bread.
