7 natural wonders of the world I wanted toshare a great place with the expat community. Ometepe Island, Nicaragua is the largest island on a fresh water lake and has fresh water sharks (rarely seen). We stayed a the Linda Guest House which just rents a few rooms or a self contained casita on the property. It was very economical at just US$30 for a double with hot water showers, lake vista on the beach and TV/DVD with kitchen access. Really cozy, great informative company, nearby tourist activities, very clean and they even cooked for us. We had fresh yogurt smoothies, veggie quiche, whole wheat bread, pizza, Thai chicken curry and more! Give them a call to reserve your space in paradise. (505)8894-9124 or 8350-2434

Iguanas such as this one full of eggs are common as are many other species including various types of monkeys, small deer, many migrating birds pass through here too. There are 2 volcanoes - one recently reactivated, 4,000 year old petroglyphs, tropical rainforests, waterfalls, mineral springs, indigenous farming community too. definately on the wild side!

7 natural wonders of the world I stayed on the longest stretch of beach on Lake Cocibolca - on the largest island in a fresh water lake - Ometepe Island, Nicaragua is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. With 2 volcanos, 1 recently reactivated, 4,000 year old petroglyhs, tropical rainforests, waterfalls, mineral springs, fresh water sharks (rarely seen) indigenous farming community and more. It is an amazing place and we found the best place to stay right on beach, near all the tourist activities too and really hospitable and clean. They cooked local dishes, plus veggie quiche and Thai chicken curry. We had fresh yogurt, whole wheat bread and pizza too! The property has a small casita to rent as well and all are uniquely designed and furnished. There are just a few rooms so you need to call and make a reservation but they are extra helpful with info and transport too. The Linda Guest House was sooo economical at US$30 for a double with hot water showers, TV/DVD and kitchen...
